Professor Jonathan WastlingProfessor Wastling is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean of Natural Sciences at Keele University. He is a Professor of Infection Biology specialising in human and animal infectious diseases with a long-standing interest in food security

Professor Jonathan Wastling is Pro Vice-Chancellor and Executive Dean at Keele University where he heads the Faculty of Natural Sciences which encompasses subjects ranging from the life sciences and veterinary medicine, through to astrophysics and psychology.  He is a Professor of Infection Biology with over 30 years of experience working on the biology of human and animal pathogens where his research has focussed on host-pathogen interactions, vaccine and drug development.  Professor Wastling has previously served on advisory bodies in the area of animal health, welfare and food security and is an Editor of Parasitology.  He has a keen interest in the role of higher education in international development, previously serving for six years as a Government appointed Commissioner at the UK Commonwealth Scholarship Commission and as Chair of Awards Policy
